THE ROLE | Director (HR&A Advisors, Inc.; New York, NY)
Multiple positions available. Manage internal and external teams to complete complex real estate and economic assignments including pro forma analysis for a range of uses, market feasibility research, business planning, fiscal and economic impact studies, public-private partnership strategy, and public policy design. Review and present client deliverables, including memos, reports and PowerPoint presentations and support the firm’s business development efforts. Provide real estate, economic development, or affordable housing expertise and creative public-private solutions. Manage core firm administrative and practice-specific initiatives (e.g. training, recruiting, marketing). Contribute substantively and intellectually to strategic business development initiatives. Establish knowledge base to represent firm in professional engagements. Nurture long-term relationships with external partners and clients. Manage production and quality of complex proposals. Understand core client issues. Develop core approach, methodologies, and workplan. Manage day-to-day execution. Inform selection of core team and staff members. Manage the work of staff and partner firms. Review and synthesize key findings. Train and manage staff. Establish and manage project budgets, contracting, and invoicing. Review and advise on project timekeeping against budgets. Ensure personal and team workloads are aligned with project budgets and achievable schedules. Communicate accordingly to team and foster coordination with other project managers. Proactively identify and mitigate time management challenges within individual project teams and the firm. Determine necessary methodologies on a project-by-project basis. Train junior staff on multiple methodologies. Review and ensure high quality of analytic work product and its implications for recommendations to the client. Organize and manage meeting dynamics to advance project and client agendas. Use strong communication skills (verbal and written) to present high-level and detailed project findings and recommendations, and provide thoughtful responses to questions across all relevant project topics. Develop effective, compelling overarching narratives for deliverables. Position may allow for telecommuting from anywhere in the U.S.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS | Bachelor’s degree or U.S. equivalent in Economics, Urban Planning, Civil and Environmental Engineering, City and Regional Planning, Architecture, Public Policy, or related field, plus 5 years of professional experience performing economic and financial analysis and research within the real estate and public policy industry. In lieu of a Bachelor’s degree plus 5 years of experience, the employer will accept a Master’s degree or U.S. equivalent in Economics, Urban Planning, Civil and Environmental Engineering, City and Regional Planning, Architecture, Public Policy, or related field, plus 3 years of professional experience performing economic and financial analysis and research within the real estate and public policy industry. Must also have experience in the following: 2 years of professional experience performing project management in real estate, economic development, or affordable housing development or policy; 2 years of professional experience using Excel modeling to perform economic modeling and marketing feasibility testing and economic impact analysis; 2 years of professional experience using Geographic Information Systems to perform data collection and demographic analysis; 2 years of professional experience drafting and editing economic and public policy reports; 2 years of professional experience performing primary and secondary research, surveys, field investigations, and impact studies.
COMPENSATION | The starting salary for these positions is $121,668.75 to $138,432.00. We offer competitive compensation packages, based on qualifications and experience.
