Shani creates economic strategies for equitable and resilient communities.
Shani leverages her blended experience in asset management and urban planning to advise on affordable housing development, citywide planning, and resilience initiatives. Currently, she is working to develop Imagine Boston 2030, Boston’s first comprehensive plan in 50 years, which will set the agenda for growth, investment and development as the city enters its fourth century.
Shani brings a diverse range of public and private sector experience to her work at HR&A. Prior to joining the firm, she worked at Goldman Sachs Asset Management in New York City as a Senior Analyst, utilizing financial analysis and strategic management to support mutual fund sales in the United States Bank and retirement channels. While pursuing her master’s degree, Shani assisted the Cambridge Redevelopment Authority with the planning and implementation of redevelopment in Kendall Square. She also worked with the Raleigh Urban Design Center, analyzing its history of community engagement with Raleigh’s special area and citywide plans.
Shani holds a Master in Urban Planning from Harvard University Graduate School of Design, where she concentrated in Real Estate and Urban Development and received the Award for Excellence in Project-Based Urban Planning. She also holds a Bachelor in Business Administration, magna cum laude, from Howard University School of Business, where she concentrated in Finance.
