THE ROLE | HR&A is currently seeking to hire two Talent Managers who will work together as a coordinated team, reporting to our Head of People. This position is based in our New York office.

As Talent Manager at HR&A, you will be primarily responsible for guiding the assignment of consulting staff to project and business development opportunities. As part of this work, you will help move the firm towards our goals of a quicker, more efficient, and effective staffing process, which better aligns the interest and skills of staff with available project opportunities, delivering stronger project teams and better professional development opportunities for HR&A staff.

We are looking for candidates who can think outside the box to propose improvements to our processes and help implement those changes. As part of this role, it is incumbent on the candidate to assess skills gaps and understand future business needs to inform our broader talent policies; this position will work closely with other members of our People team in that effort.

The Talent Managers will report to HR&A’s Head of People and will work closely with leadership in each of HR&A’s individual offices to ensure effective marshaling of our employee resources across the firm. You will also support a variety of community-building initiatives across the firm including the development of firmwide programming, social event curation, and our mentorship programs. This role will also interface closely with our Anti-Racism Core Team to support the implementation of anti-racism initiatives across the talent life cycle.


  • Guide the assignment of talent to project and business development opportunities.
    • Overseeing a centralized process and data tracking for staffing requests and assignments, and refining as needed, to achieve firm-wide business objectives
    • Matching employees with projects and proposals that align with their interests and growth areas.
    • Coordinating with leadership in HR&A’s offices on the assignment process and overall talent management.
    • Supporting employee onboarding, including identifying initial project assignments and connecting staff to others firmwide with relevant expertise and interests.
  • Support the growth of our internal talent resources.
    • Understanding employee interests, skill development, and growth opportunities.
    • Educating new and existing employees about our staffing systems and expectations.
    • Matching employees with projects and proposals that align with their interests and growth areas.
    • Aligning employees with training and professional development opportunities.
    • Connecting employees with resources to address performance challenges and support the successful transition of new employees into the firm.
    • Proactively reviewing weekly staffing projections to balance employees’ workloads.
    • Ensuring compliance with timekeeping policies firmwide.
    • Monitoring employee attainment of their goals and achievement of business needs via employee utilization and other metrics.
    • Supporting bi-annual employee performance reviews, as well as 30-, 60-, and 90-day reviews.
  • Inform firmwide strategy around talent-related functions.
    • Identifying, designing, building consensus around, and implementing improvements to our current staffing and assignment structure.
    • Identifying gaps in skills, training needs, and other external resources to support our employees.
    • Informing future recruiting decisions based on skill needs, practice area growth, and new business lines.
    • Informing future organization design related to staffing.
  • Support the development of community and culture at the firm.
    • Overseeing and administering our employee mentorship programs.
    • Supporting, developing new, and continually improving firmwide community programming.
    • Implementing new strategies to facilitate knowledge sharing and relationship-building.
    • Supporting the implementation of DEI and wellness initiatives.
    • Advising and liaising with our Employee Resource Groups.
    • Supporting and convening our various cohort social groups.
    • Supporting certain office-based community-building initiatives and social activities.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED | Candidates should bring strong interpersonal communication, creativity, enthusiasm, and problem-solving skills aligned with the roles and responsibilities described above, including:

  • Ideally 5+ years of experience in any one or more of the following areas (preferably at a Professional Services firm): project management, talent management, business operations management, and/or business analytics.
  • Experience with the development and use of dashboards and data tracking systems to monitor and report on progress to goals.
  • Strong communications skills, high emotional intelligence, a love of working with people, and the ability to act as a talent coach and culture champion for HR&A.
  • A passion for solving complex problems and thinking through organizational structure and operating procedure improvements.
  • Strong organizational skills, including being detail- and process-oriented with the ability to manage several work streams concurrently.
  • Experience working at a consulting or professional services firm is preferred but not required.

COMPENSATION | The base salary range for this position is $121,670 – $132,500. We offer competitive compensation packages, based on qualifications and experience.  We are an employee-owned company, meaning you will have the opportunity to benefit from the firm’s growth over time through participation in our Employee Stock Ownership Plan. Each year, the firm will contribute funds to this long-term wealth-building account and may make contributions to other retirement accounts.
