THE ROLE | HR&A is seeking a full-time Recruitment Manager. This position is based in New York and will function in a hybrid work environment. This position will report to the Head of People and work closely with other members of the People team as well as consulting teams across the six offices.

As the Recruitment Manager, your primary responsibility will be to oversee the firm’s talent acquisition. You’ll leverage your in-depth knowledge of internal recruitment, interviewing, and hiring processes. You’ll work closely with senior leaders and office teams to craft and revise engaging job descriptions and publishing postings on job boards, career pages, and social media networks. You’ll connect with university and higher education institutions to develop a pipeline of candidates

You will be reporting to Head of People in collaboration with the HR Director and other colleagues firmwide as needed. You will manage a Recruiting Coordinator and other contract recruitment employees. As the Recruitment Manager you will make sure the recruiting strategies used by the team are up to date and help implement new ones.

To perform this work well requires being highly organized along with bringing innovative ideas to inform, develop and implement recruitment strategies. Performing well in this role also requires strong communication and analytical skills, to maximize functionality of recruitment software and Resume Database.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee HR&A hiring cycle from start (search approval & kick-off) to finish (new hire start date), including guidance/support on new hire onboarding process, for both active & passive searches. This will also include drafting and updating job descriptions as needed.
  • Partner with hiring leads across the company to ensure pipelines are moving and objectives are being met. This includes coaching and cajoling hiring leads when needed. Strong organizational skills are needed to share the updates in the process at the different stages.
  • Run regular recruiting meetings with hiring managers, stay organized, give updates, and hold others accountable for action items.
  • Develop & maintain contractors/freelancer support for sourcing or interviewing capacity, according to firm and practice needs.
  • Personally oversee standout searches (e.g. Executive? searches) as a strategic partner to specific practice areas and/or offices.
  • Personally own or oversee sourcing & inbound recruiting work:
  • 20% active: LinkedIn, twitter, google research, sourcing tools, network outreach.
  • 80% passive: inbound applicants, referral processing, job boards, content, events.
  • Hire exceptional and diverse talent that are aligned with HR&A’s DNA and advance our DEI objectives in recruiting.
  • Support HR&A’s DEI objectives in recruiting by sourcing candidates and networking to give HR&A a competitive edge. ( trying to say to stay on top of industry trends)
  • Maintain up-to-date search tracker, showing progress across all active searches.
  • Ensure HR&A is effectively sourcing at relevant career fairs and similar industry events with a focus on sourcing from previously underrepresented colleges and universities (i.e., non-Ivies); maintain relationships with key university contacts. (maybe my above comment on industry goes here?)
  • Ensure that applicants to HR&A roles get timely communication about their status and are updated throughout the process on key next steps
  • Configure and maintain modern applicant tracking system (ATS) and ensure collaborators are using the tool effectively.
  • Establish and maintain an understanding of HR&A practice areas (e.g., real estate, urban planning, affordable housing, resiliency, inclusive cities), how they operate, and what their staffing needs are.
  • Support Head of People in projects and workflows related to Org Design, Culture & Engagement, as well as Growth & Development and other related efforts, as assigned.
  • Oversee a Recruiting Coordinator and other administrative support staff who can help with scheduling and coordination.

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES/ABILITIES

Talent Acquisition Experience

  • 4-6 years of experience in talent acquisition. Previous experience recruiting in a professional services firm is a plus.
  • Communication

COMPENSATION | The starting salary for this position is $101,670. We offer competitive compensation packages, based on qualifications and experience.  We are an employee-owned company, meaning you will have the opportunity to benefit from the firm’s growth over time through participation in our Employee Stock Ownership Plan.
