HR&A has teamed with the ROMA Design Group to prepare a strategic framework with clearly prioritized actions aimed at implementing a vision for Downtown Austin. HR&A is examining the potential to develop new funding mechanisms to support Downtown Austin's infrastructure, identifying strategies to increase the viability of affordable/workforce housing in the Downtown residential mix, establishing programs and procedures for making government-owned land available for private or joint development, and planning for rail or bus transit routes and stations. Phase 1 of the initiative involves analyzing baseline information, interviewing key stakeholders, articulating a vision for Downtown, and assessing opportunities and challenges in the project.. Phase 2 will focus on crafting strategies and processes to implement the identified high-priority components of the plan.
