Patriots' Point, SC
Patriots Point, directly across the Cooper River from the historic Charleston Peninsula, is home to the Patriots Point Naval and Maritime Museum. Revenue from the site's 425 acres offsets the costs of the Museum's operations. However land uses are underutilized, accessible only by car, and unable to support the monuments and attractions of the Museum. HR&A is working with the Patriots Point Development Authority and a multidisciplinary team to develop a new vision for the land and facilities at Patriots Point that will support its long-term financial viability.

The master planning team, is developing a long-term plan for the site that increases the civic and economic value of the land holdings while enhancing the visitor's experience of the Museum and its facilities. The vision for the site, currently under development with the Authority and community, seeks to overcome a piecemeal development pattern to create a more vibrant, sustainable and walkable community. The team's recommendations will support the Museum's sense of place and ongoing revenue stream, guide the Authority's future economic development transactions, and strengthen Patriots Point’s connection to Mount Pleasant and the Charleston Harbor.
