HR&A is partnering with Chan Krieger Sieniewicz to update the downtown plan for Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The Baton Rouge Area Foundation (BRAF) and the Center for Planning Excellence (CPEX) hired HR&A to develop a detailed implementation strategy that translates Chan Krieger's planning vision into action. Based on an initial land use and market analysis, HR&A recommended strategies to encourage the development of a new cultural or entertainment anchor, better leverage the presence of the convention center and hotels, build a critical mass of workers and residents downtown, and develop agency capacity, in particular that of the Downtown Development District (DDD) and Redevelopment Authority (RDA), to manage these efforts. The team's efforts have received favorable coverage in local press.
